Questions

Waiter call systems, answered.

What restaurant, café and hotel owners in Sri Lanka usually ask us before getting started.

The basics

What is a waiter call system?

A waiter call system is a small wireless button on each table and a display at the counter. When a guest presses the button, the table number appears on the display and is announced out loud, so staff know exactly which table needs them. No more waving or calling out across the room.

Who sells waiter call systems in Sri Lanka?

TableTap, a brand of Pine Craft Labs in Malabe, supplies, installs and supports wireless waiter call systems for restaurants, cafés, hotels and resorts across Sri Lanka. The range includes the Nexus LED display receiver and the Halo, Dot and Pebble call buttons.

Do guests need Wi-Fi, an app or a phone?

No. TableTap buttons talk to the display directly on 433 MHz radio. There is no Wi-Fi, no app and nothing for guests to download, and nothing to set up on their side. They just press the button.

What happens when several tables call at the same time?

The Nexus display stores every call in the order it arrives and announces each one in turn. The first table stays on screen until it is cleared, either with the ENT key or automatically after a few seconds, and then the next table appears. A repeat press from a table that is already waiting does not add it twice.

Is a call button better than a QR code or ordering app?

They do different jobs. QR codes are good for menus, but they rely on the guest’s phone and internet. A call button is instant, works for every guest and keeps working if the internet goes down. Many venues use both.

Products & hardware

How many tables can one display handle?

One Nexus display pairs with up to 300 call buttons and can show any number from 001 to 999 (letters too), so a single display covers anything from a small café to a large hotel restaurant. Bigger venues can add a second display.

Will it work across a large or multi-floor restaurant?

Yes. The wireless signal carries across a typical dining floor without cables. For large or multi-floor venues we test the signal during installation and plan the setup around your layout, adding a display for each floor or service point where needed.

Are the call buttons waterproof?

Yes. The Pebble is rated IPX67 and the Halo and Dot are fully waterproof, so they handle spilt drinks, table wiping, terraces and poolside seating.

What batteries do the buttons use, and are they easy to change?

The buttons run on standard coin-cell batteries (the Halo uses a single CR2032). The Halo’s back twists off like a remote, so a battery swap takes seconds and the button stays paired. We keep spares in stock.

Which call button should I choose?

Halo is the slimmest and suits styled tables and fine dining. Dot is a simple one-touch button that is ideal for casual dining, poolside and outdoor seating. Pebble adds a Cancel key and comes in Onyx black or Oak wood grain. You can mix buttons in one venue.

Can the buttons be branded with our logo?

Yes. We offer custom logo printing on the buttons and matching table-number stands so the system fits your venue.

Buying, setup & support

How much does a waiter call system cost in Sri Lanka?

It depends on how many tables you have, which buttons you choose, how many displays you need and whether you want installation and branding. There is no subscription. Message us on WhatsApp on 076 532 9277 with your table count, or use the quote builder on our contact page, and we will send a price.

Do you install and support the system?

Yes. We are based in Malabe and handle installation, staff training, warranty support and spare parts. Contact us about installation at your venue.

How long does installation take?

Systems arrive pre-paired, so most cafés and restaurants are set up in a single visit, including table numbering, signal testing and staff training. Larger hotels with several outlets are planned in advance.

Is there a warranty?

Every TableTap device comes with a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects. Faulty units are repaired or replaced.

Can we add more tables later?

Yes. New buttons are paired to your existing display in seconds, up to 300 per display, and extra displays can be added for new floors, terraces or outlets.

Which areas do you serve?

We are based in Malabe and work with venues across Sri Lanka, including Colombo and the Western Province, Kandy, Galle and the south coast, and hotel regions further afield. Get in touch with your location for delivery and installation options.
